On an almost perfect evening for
racing, a large crowd turned out to watch another great night of speedway
action on a night that again posthumously recognized one of the all-time
favorite drivers at the track in Benny Arnall.
The Cruiser/Pure Stock feature
race got the action started for the evening with Brady Madden and Ray
Flippin on the front row. Flippin led the caution-free event after the first
lap, followed by Madden and John Briggs. David Gittins followed Briggs past
Madden on lap four, followed closely by Dustin Hudson. Hudson and Gittins
fought hard for the third spot, with both drivers moving up a spot as Briggs
slipped over the cushion in turn two on lap ten. When the checkered flag
fell it was Flippin taking his fifth feature event of the year, Hudson got
past Gittins on the final lap to finish second and Gittins crossed the line
running third.

The Benny Arnall Memorial
Mini-Stock feature race was extended to 19 laps to recognize the car number
Benny raced with, and it was David McCracken and Dan Lyle on the front row
to start the race. After a pair of aborted starts, the field got underway
and was led on lap one by Dan Lyle. Dave Crisenberry started inside row
three but took only two circuits to get himself to the front of the field.
Paul Norwick took over second on after a spin by Lyle sent Lyle to the back
of the field early on, and on lap eleven Norwick got together with leader
Crisenberry bringing out the caution as the two cars rolled to a stop
against the wall on the front straight. Rebecca McCracken inherited the lead
on the following restart with David McCracken and Dan Lyle close behind as
the race resumed, but Crisenberry was able to get back up through the field
to take over the lead again on the final lap. As the field came to the
checkered flag it was Crisenberry the winner, Rebecca McCracken second and

over second on lap six, followed close behind by Eric Hopper. Hopper took
over second on lap seven and after challenging Davidson after a couple of
restarts Hopper took over the lead for good on lap eleven. Jackie Hensley
started eighth on the field, but once again methodically picked off cars as
he moved up through the field, taking over second on lap twelve. After being

With high temperatures keeping
the crowd at home until just before race time, fans arrived in time to
witness another great night of action on the speedway.
The Cruiser/Pure Stocks took the
green flag with two of the speedway’s young guns on the front row, John
Briggs on the pole and Ray Flippin outside of the front row. Briggs held the
lead on the opening lap, followed close behind by Flippin and Richard
Carson. After a caution slowed the field just past the halfway point,
Flippin suddenly broke coming off turn two, bringing out the final caution
flag of the race. One lap after the race restarted, Dustin Hudson drove his
car to the front of the field, and as Briggs slid back several positions,
Bobby Raulston and the team of Darla Hulen/Trish Foster made their way to
the front. At the end it was Hudson picking up his first feature race
victory, Raulston crossing the line running second and Hulen/Foster coming
home third.

The Mini-Stocks took the green
flag with David McCracken and Paul Norwick starting on the front row.
Norwick took the lead on the opening lap, with Mike Smith, David McCracken
and Kevin Grissom close behind. Grissom took over the third spot in the
caution free race on lap two, with Smith getting around Norwick on lap ten.
At the end it was Smith’s second trip of the year to victory lane driving
Rebecca McCracken’s car, Norwick finished second with Grissom crossing the
line in third.

The Hobby feature race had Chris
Davidson and Jackie Hensley leading the field to the start, and after the
first circuit was completed, Hensley was out front with Davidson and Hopper
in close pursuit. Hopper was passed by Eddie Cotter on lap two, but got back
into third on lap four. Hopper hounded Davidson all over the track, but
never could get his car into the second spot. When the race finished,
Hensley got the win, Davidson crossed the line running second and Hopper
finished third.

The Super Stock division was the
Twin Lakes Community Bank featured class of the night. Tom Davenport and Tim
Sheehan occupied the front row to get the race underway, and it was Sheehan
getting the advantage early in the race. Several drivers were in the fight
for second in the early running, with Joe Davenport, Curt Cotter, Mike Smith
and Brent Raulston all fighting between themselves for positions two through
five. Cotter got around Sheehan for the lead on lap eight, leaving Sheehan
in the dogfight for the second spot. Just past the halfway point in the
event, a spin brought out the yellow flag and Cotter was forced off the
track with a flat tire, handing the race lead back to early leader Sheehan.
Sheehan himself would suffer from a flat tire on lap seventeen, allowing Joe
Davenport to take the win, with Smith crossing the line in second and Tom
Davenport third at the end.

The Modified feature race had
Rob Muilenburg leading the field to the green flag as the pole-sitter, with
Rick Trammell outside the front row. A flat tire for Trammell brought out
the only caution flag of the race on lap two, bunching up the field for the
restart. Glenn Bratti started outside the second row, but got up to second
after the first revolution and was pressured hard in the early running by
Curt Cotter and Todd Knight. Kandy Methvin and Rick Trammell had a
hard-fought fight for position up until lap nine when Trammell climbed back
up into fifth. At the end of the night Muilenburg was the winner, Bratti
finished second, Cotter was third, with Knight fourth and Trammell fifth.

The hottest night of the year
made for a fashionably late arrival for the race fans who turned out to
watch some of the most intense racing on the track this season.
The Cruiser/Pure Stock feature
race was the first of three feature races to run caution-free for the
evening. John Briggs and Richard Carson led the field to the green flag,
with Briggs leading the field on the bottom of the track into turn one. At
the end of the opening lap Briggs was the leader, with Carson and Brightwell
close behind fighting for second. Brightwell was able to get past Carson on
lap five, and set off after Briggs to challenge for the lead. With both
drivers pressing hard over the final few laps in a fight for the lead, it
was Briggs holding on for his third feature victory of the season.
Brightwell finished running second, with Carson crossing the line running
third.

The Mini-Stocks got started with
Daniel Lewis and George Stokes on the front row. Stokes was the leader of
the first lap, but Rebecca McCracken grabbed the lead on the second circuit,
leading up until the first caution of feature racing fell on lap five. Paul
Norwick lined up close behind McCracken under caution for the restart and
was able to get to the lead on lap six, holding it through the end.
McCracken crossed the line running second and it was Kevin Grissom finishing
third.

The Hobby feature race was the
second caution-free event of the night, led to the start by Ken Williams and
Eddie Cotter on the front row. Eric Hopper started inside the second row,
and used the bottom of the track to get to the lead on lap one. Jackie
Hensley got past pole-sitter Williams on lap four and set off in pursuit of
Hopper, trying to find a line to drive into the lead. Hopper was able to
hold off Hensley over the closing laps to take the win, Hensley crossed the
line second with Williams taking home third.

The Super Stock event was race
number three to run without a yellow flag slowing the action. Joe Davenport
and Tom Davenport held down the front row as the field rolled towards the
green flag to start, and it was those two cars fighting for the lead for the
entire event. With the field four wide coming off turn four on the first lap
of the event, Joe Davenport was the leader with Hunter Duren and Tom
Davenport close behind fighting for second. Tom Davenport took over second
on lap two and then moved into the lead on lap four. Joe Davenport and Tom
Davenport raced side-by-side for several laps through the midpoint of the
race, with Tom maintaining the upper hand. Curt Cotter started inside row
three and made it into third on lap eleven. After trying to get past Tom
Davenport for the lead on several laps, Joe Davenport was able to get into
the top spot on lap sixteen and drove to the win over Tom Davenport, who
finished second and Cotter in third.

trip around the speedway. Wormington held down second through lap six before
being passed by Rob Muilenburg and Jason Snodgrass. Tim Weaver started the
feature race on the inside of row three and after spending much of the night
in and out of the top five Weaver got past Wormington for fourth on lap

A warm summer evening at the
speedway benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation had a generous crowd on hand
for more great racing action in the summer racing season.
The Cruiser/Pure Stock class was
the Twin Lakes Community Bank featured division of the night, and started
the feature racing for the night off with Dustin Hudson and Marvin
Brightwell on the front row. Brightwell took the lead on the opening lap
followed by Hudson and John Briggs until the first of several caution flags
waved on lap three. After a spin by Hudson sent him to the rear of the
field, Briggs was up to second, and after racing side-by-side with
Brightwell took over the lead on lap five. After the seventh caution flag
flew for a four-car incident involving Briggs, Brightwell, Benny Grogan and
Richard Carson, track officials made the decision to abbreviate the race,
making it a green, white, checkered finish. Ray Flippin inherited the lead
after the caution, followed by David Gittins and Hudson. Gittins made an
attempt to get past Flippin on the restart, but Flippin was able to hold on
for the win, also taking home the TLC Bank extra cash. Gittins crossed the
line running second, and Hudson was able to hold off a hard charging Briggs
to finish third.

The Mini-Stocks took the green
flag with Kevin Grissom and Paul Norwick on the front row, but Dave
Crisenberry dove to the bottom of the track on the opening lap and held the
lap one lead, followed by Norwick and Grissom. Grissom took over second on
the second trip around the speedway, and was trying to catch the car of
Crisenberry when a caution on lap 8 bunched the field. On the restart
Crisenberry tried to drive away for the win, but a blown motor on lap
thirteen would end his night and hand the lead to Grissom on the restart.
Daniel Lewis and Norwick raced hard for the second position after the
restart, and when the checkered flag waved it was Grissom the winner,
followed by Norwick in second and Lewis in third.

The Hobby feature race was a
hotly contested battle at the front of the field from the drop of the green
flag. Kevin Collins paced the field to the start with Eric Hopper sitting
outside the front row, and as the cars came across the start/finish line for
the first lap, Collins held the lead, followed closely by the cars of
Hopper, Jessie Shearin and Chris Davidson. A spin on lap six packed the
field back nose to tail on the following restart, and Collins was able to
hold his lead while the field shuffled behind him as Shearin, Hopper,
Davidson and Hensley all fought for position. Jackie Hensley started up
through the field near the midpoint of the race, taking over third on lap
twelve and then the lead one lap later after getting around the top two cars
in turns one and two. Hensley kept the lead through the finish, with Collins
finishing second, and Shearin getting past Hopper on the final lap to take

field. Cotter drove his car into turn one and never looked back on his way
to his fourth consecutive feature victory. Hunter Duren started inside row
two and pursued Cotter all race long, challenging for the lead in the early
running but never being able to get past for the top spot. A caution near
the middle of the event stacked up the field with Tim Sheehan and Joe
Davenport fighting hard for position over the closing laps. At the end it

was former track champion Wayne Graybeal that was the story early on. JW
Trammell and David Marez held the front row as the race began, but after
starting the race inside row two Graybeal dove to bottom of the track in
turn one to grab the early lead. Marez and defending track champion Rob
Muilenburg fought for the second spot over the opening laps before a blown
motor brought out the first caution flag of the race. Marez and Muilenburg
continued their fight for the second spot for three more laps until Graybeal
lost his motor on lap twelve. Marez lead the pack on the restart with
Muilenburg pressing hard behind him and with Todd Knight and Trammell
fighting it out for third. Muilenburg used a lap nineteen pass to take over
the lead and drive to the win. Marez crossed the line running second, ahead

After
taking one week off to celebrate the 4th of July, the largest
field of the season took to the track tonight, thrilling the large crowd
that turned out on a warm and humid evening.
The
Cruiser/Pure Stock feature race led off the action for the evening with
Heath Williams and Richard Carson on the front row of the field. After a
pair of aborted attempts to get the race started, Carson led the field into
turn one on the third attempt to start the race and held the lead through
the opening lap, but Dustin Hudson inherited the lead as Carson spun out
coming off turn four on lap two. Hudson had the lead for two more laps
before Jackie Hensley, piloting the car owned by Marvin Brightwell, took
over the lead on lap four. After a mid-race spin brought out the caution
flag, Ray Flippin and John Briggs both got past Hudson to take over second
and third. Over the final laps of the event, Hensley drove away from the
field for the win, Flippin finished second after holding off Briggs, who
finished third.

The
Mini-Stock division was the Twin Lakes Community Bank featured division of
the night, and showcased some great driving as the drivers vied for some
extra cash on the line for the winner wearing the TLC Bank contingency
sticker. Paul Norwick held the pole position at the start, but Mike Smith,
piloting the car owned by Rebecca McCracken, was the leader of the opening
lap. A few early cautions slowed the running at the start, but Dave
Crisenberry trying to get past leader Smith provided the best action all
race long. Crisenberry passed Smith for the lead on lap seven, but Smith was
able to get back into the lead on lap ten and hold on though the end,
picking up the win along with the extra TLC Bank cash. Crisenberry crossed

ending his night early and putting Ken Williams on the outside of the front
row to get the field started. DeGase pulled out to the lead to start the
race, followed by Williams and Eric Hopper, but Williams was able to get his
car out in front on the second circuit, holding the lead through the first
half of the race. Jackie Hensley started inside row three and by lap ten was
running second before passing Williams for the lead on lap twelve. Williams
would briefly regain the lead after a restart on lap sixteen, getting past
Hensley on the bottom of the track in turns three and four. Williams started
getting pressure for the lead from Chris Davidson on lap eighteen, and on
lap nineteen Davidson took over the lead and was the first driver to take
the checkered flag, followed across the line by Williams in second and

the speedway holding down the second spot until lap nine. Curt Cotter
started outside row two and methodically made his way to the front of the
field, picking off Sheehan for third on lap six, Raulston for second on lap
nine, and then getting past Davenport for the lead on lap sixteen. Dave

The
night before summer officially arrived provided some of the hottest racing
of the season to date, with side-by-side racing thrilling the fans all night
long.
In
the Cruiser/Pure Stock feature race, Heath Williams and Marvin Brightwell
held down the front row at the start, but contact on the opening lap brought
out the red flag, and sent Marvin Brightwell to the pits after being shown
the black flag. The restart had David Gittins on the outside of the front
row, and he was able to drive the car to the early lead on the first lap on
the scorecards, followed by John Briggs and Heath Williams running second
and third. James Haley got around Williams for third place on lap four,
followed by Ray Flippin one lap later. Briggs and Gittens raced nose to tail
for the first eight laps, and on lap nine Briggs went to the bottom of the
track looking for the lead. After running side-by-side for two laps, Briggs
got his car out front for good on lap eleven, and after getting past Haley
on lap eleven himself, Flippin got past Gittens on lap thirteen. Briggs and
Flippin finished first and second as Gittens and Haley raced side-side the
last two laps, with Haley getting around Gittens to take home third,
